Fillable or not?

A fillable form contains real form fields — here you recognize them by the light-blue highlight. Many forms, however, are “flat” PDFs with printed lines but no fields. You can fill those in too: use “Add text” to type directly on the lines.

What “flatten” means

Flattening turns the entered values into regular page content. The recipient sees everything the same, but can’t accidentally change the values. Recommended for applications and contracts before sending.

Tips

  • Keep a blank copy in case you need the form again.
  • Check whether the organization offers an online process — sometimes that’s faster.
  • Signature required? Sign in the same step.

Tips

  • Accented letters and special characters are embedded correctly.
  • Flatten the form before sending so recipients can’t change values by accident.
  • Form not fillable? Use the PDF editor and “Add text”.

Frequently asked questions

Are accented letters saved correctly?

Yes, accents and special characters are embedded correctly.

Can I edit the form later?

Yes, as long as you don’t flatten it.

Do all forms work?

Standard PDF forms do. Special XFA forms used by some agency software aren’t supported.
