Remove white margins from a PDF

Upload the PDF and click “Remove white margins”: the tool detects the content area on every page and trims the margins with a small buffer. Alternatively, draw your own box and apply it to all pages.

Why it helps

  • Read papers and lecture notes on a tablet or e-reader without constant zooming.
  • Clean up scans with big black or white borders.
  • Reduce slides or graphics to the actual content.

Automatic or manual?

Automatic detection crops every page individually — ideal when content size varies. If all pages should stay the same size (e.g. for printing), draw a box and apply it to every page.

Cropping hides the area outside the box but doesn’t remove it from the file. To really remove content, use Redact PDF.

Before printing

Cropped pages are smaller than A4 or Letter. Most printers scale them to fit the paper automatically, which makes the content larger. If you need the original page size for printing, keep the uncropped file as well.

Tips

  • Cropping hides content outside the frame — to permanently remove sensitive content, use Redact PDF.
  • Automatic detection works best on white backgrounds.
  • Pages of different sizes can be cropped individually.
