How to merge PDFs on any device

Updated:

The fastest way is in your browser: upload files, set the order, merge — it works the same on every device. There are also built-in options on macOS and iOS that are fine for simple cases.

In the browser (Windows, Mac, Linux, phone)

  1. Open Merge PDF.
  2. Select or drag in all files.
  3. Set the order by drag and drop.
  4. Click “Merge PDFs” and download the result.

The files aren’t uploaded; they’re combined on your device.

On a Mac with Preview

Open the first PDF in Preview, show the thumbnail sidebar and drag other PDFs or single pages into it, then save. Fine for two or three files, tedious for many.

On iPhone and iPad

In the Files app, select several PDFs and choose “Create PDF” from the menu. You can’t really control the order — the browser route is better for that. Details: Merge PDFs on iPhone.

Combining only certain pages

If you only need specific pages from several documents, load all files into Organize PDF, remove what you don’t need and sort the rest.

Afterwards: check the size

Merged files with many scans grow quickly. Compress PDF brings them back to email size.
