Create a ZUGFeRD invoice from your own PDF
Keep the invoice design you already use: upload your PDF invoice above, add the matching invoice data (typed in or taken from an existing XML file) and download a ZUGFeRD / Factur-X file. The result looks exactly like your PDF, but carries the structured XML inside — so your customer’s accounting software can read it automatically.

How it works
- 1
Upload your PDF
The invoice as created by Word, your template or your invoicing program.
- 2
Add the data
Enter the invoice data or load an XRechnung/CII XML that matches the PDF.
- 3
Check consistency
Compare the totals and numbers in the XML with what the PDF shows.
- 4
Download
Save the hybrid PDF with the embedded XML and send it as usual.
What a ZUGFeRD file is
ZUGFeRD (identical to the French Factur-X) is a hybrid invoice: a PDF for people plus an embedded XML file for software. The XML uses the CII syntax and, in a suitable profile such as EN 16931, counts as a full e-invoice. More background: Factur-X / ZUGFeRD explained.
When this tool is the right choice
- You have a well-designed invoice template and do not want to change it.
- Your accounting software exports PDFs, but no e-invoice format.
- You already have the XML (for example from another tool) and want a readable hybrid file.
PDF and XML must match
In a hybrid invoice the structured XML is the legally relevant part. If the visible PDF says something different — another total, another invoice number — that causes confusion and possibly problems with the tax office. Always double-check the numbers before you download. Afterwards you can open the file in the e-invoice viewer to compare.
Tips
- The PDF content and the XML must contain the same details.
- Check the result with the e-invoice validator or the ZUGFeRD extractor.
- Profiles are explained in Factur-X / ZUGFeRD explained.
