Reduce an image to under 100 KB

Upload the image and set the target size to 100 KB. The tool lowers the quality — and the dimensions if needed — step by step until the file fits. You see the result right away and can compare it with the original.

Your files never leave your device — everything runs locally in your browser.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload the image

    JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC.

  2. 2

    Set a target

    e.g. 100 KB (or 50, 200 KB …).

  3. 3

    Compress

Quality and size are adjusted automatically.

  4. 4

    Download

    Check and save the result.

Where tight limits appear

Government portals, job applications, exam registrations and visa forms often limit photos and signatures to 50–200 KB. A phone photo is usually 2–5 MB — 20 to 50 times too large.

Size first, then quality

For a passport photo or a signature, 600–800 pixels are enough. Reducing the dimensions first with Resize images keeps much more quality than heavy compression of a huge image.

UseSuggested size
Signature400–600 px wide
Profile / passport photo600–800 px on the long side
Document photo1200–1600 px on the long side

Tips

  • WebP is usually much smaller than JPG and PNG at the same quality.
  • PNG is lossless — for photos, converting to JPG or WebP pays off.
  • Dimensions too large? Also resize the image.

Frequently asked questions

Does the image get blurry?

With sensible dimensions, hardly at all. Very tight limits on large images reduce quality visibly.

PNG or JPG?

For photos, JPG reaches small sizes much more easily.

Is my photo uploaded?

No, compression runs in your browser.
