Open and read an XRechnung file
An XRechnung is the German e-invoice standard — a pure XML file, so browsers and editors only show code. Upload it above and the invoice appears as a clear document with seller, buyer, line items, taxes, totals and bank details. You can then print it or save it as PDF.
Choose files
or drag and dropXML (XRechnung, UBL, CII) or PDF (ZUGFeRD, Factur-X)
Your files never leave your device — everything runs locally in your browser.
How it works
- 1
Upload the XML
The XRechnung from the email or portal.
- 2
Automatic parsing
UBL or CII syntax is detected and read.
- 3
Review
Check items, amounts, due date and payment details.
- 4
Save
Print or save as PDF for your records.
Why an XRechnung doesn’t open like a PDF
The XRechnung is a machine-readable format: it contains the invoice data as structured XML but no layout. Accounting software imports it directly; everyone else needs a viewer that renders the data in readable form.
Supported files
- XRechnung in UBL syntax (root element “Invoice” or “CreditNote”).
- XRechnung in CII syntax (root element “CrossIndustryInvoice”).
- ZUGFeRD and Factur-X — PDFs with embedded XML.
Keep the original
For an e-invoice, the structured XML is the actual invoice; a readable view or PDF is just a convenience copy. Always archive the original XML file. Background: E-invoicing in Germany.
Tips
- The XML is the legally relevant original — keep it together with the readable version.
- The e-invoice validator finds missing mandatory details.
- Need PDFs of many XML invoices at once? Use XRechnung to PDF.
- The invoice is processed only in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
